About Lavender Cochins
Cochins originated in China and became popular in Europe and North America during the 19th century. They are known for their large size, abundant soft feathering, feathered legs and gentle, calm temperament. Lavender is a colour variety of the Cochin breed, recognized for its soft blue-grey plumage with a subtle lavender appearance.
Cochins are considered more of an ornamental and exhibition breed than a high-production laying breed. They are valued for their distinctive appearance, gentle nature and presence in the flock rather than for producing large numbers of eggs.
If your priority is high egg production, a Cochin may not be the best fit. Cochins are better suited to those looking for a gentle, ornamental breed with a beautiful, distinctive appearance.
