🌱 Hatching Chicks – How It Works

​

Raising healthy, happy chicks starts with planning and choosing the right breed. Follow these steps to secure your Day-Old Chicks each season.

1️⃣ Choose Your Breeds

Visit our Day-Old Chicks page to see the breeds offered this season:

• Welsummer

• Blue & Splash Marans

• Whiting True Blue

• Standard Lavender Cochins

• F1 & F2 Olive Eggers

• Coastal Eggers

• Rustic Eggers

• The Spice Girls – Females only

2️⃣ See the Next Available Hatch

The "Hatching Next" section (below) shows the next batch of chicks that will be available - including breed and tentative hatch date.

The Hatch Calendar is updated regularly so customers can plan ahead and choose the best hatch dates before reserving.

3️⃣ Reserve Your Chicks

Once you know your preferred hatch week:

1. Select your breed(s) on the Day-Old Chicks page

2. Fill out the Regular Season Reservation Form 

3. Receive a confirmation email

Your chicks are placed on the reservation list for that hatch period.
If fewer chicks hatch than expected, your reservation automatically rolls to the next available hatch unless you request otherwise.

We will contact you once your preferred hatch date is confirmed.

Payment Instructions:

Payment will be requested at that time via e-transfer to roslinpoultryranch@gmail.com (when submitting your e-transfer please leave your name in the message field).

Please submit payment within 24 hours to secure your reservation.

4️⃣ After Your Chicks Hatch

You will receive a Hatch Confirmation Email within 24 hours of hatch day.

Pickup Guidelines

• No sooner than 2 days post-hatch

• No later than 7 days post-hatch

This ensures chicks have time to rest and adjust before going home.

Chick Care Information

At pickup, you will receive a Chick Care Guide, which includes:

• Feed currently being used

• Waterer type recommendations

• Heat source guidance

• Litter type and general care tips

• ​

Optional Pickup Day Add-On

Chick’ N Vitamins are available at a special price of $20 (regular $29) to help reduce transportation and transition stress. (Ask us at pickup for more details.)

5️⃣ Want Chick Updates but Not Ready to Reserve?

If a breed is not currently available, click “Notify Me When Available” to join the alert list:

• Emails sent only after all reservations are filled

• Chicks are first-come, first-served

• ​

6️⃣ Why Chick Listings Show “Out of Stock”

All chicks on the Day-Old Chicks page may display “Out of Stock.” This is intentional:

• Chicks are hatched in small batches and usually pre-reserved

• Listings remain “Out of Stock” until:

  • Pre-season and regular-season reservations for that hatch date are filled

  • Extra chicks are available

If you see chicks suddenly appear “In Stock”, it means:

• They were not pre-reserved

• Available first-come, first-served

• You can add them to your cart immediately

• ​

✅ For predictable availability, we strongly recommend using the Pre-Season (Interest) Reservation Form or the Regular-Season Reservation Form (available February 1st).
