Safe-Guard AquaSol Fenbendazole

🐔 Considering Safe-Guard® AquaSol for Backyard Chickens

Help Me Decide Whether to Add This Product to Chick' N Wellness Shop

I'm currently exploring the possibility of offering Safe-Guard® AquaSol (fenbendazole oral suspension) in a convenient small-flock size for backyard chicken keepers.

Before making a decision, I want to find out whether there is enough interest from my customers to make offering this product practical.

Safe-Guard® AquaSol is currently supplied in larger containers, which may be more product than many backyard chicken keepers need. I'm exploring the possibility of offering a convenient smaller size for those with backyard-sized flocks.

🪱 What Is Safe-Guard® AquaSol?

Safe-Guard® AquaSol is a fenbendazole oral suspension containing 200 mg of fenbendazole per mL.

Fenbendazole is an antiparasitic medication. Safe-Guard® AquaSol is administered to chickens through their drinking water.

According to the product labeling, Safe-Guard® AquaSol is indicated for the treatment and control of certain adult internal parasites.

🪱 What Types of Worms Does Safe-Guard® AquaSol Treat?

Safe-Guard® AquaSol is indicated for the treatment and control of the following adult internal worms in chickens:

✓ Large Roundworms (Ascaridia galli)

✓ Cecal Worms (Heterakis gallinarum) — indicated for breeding chickens and laying hens.

Cecal worms (Heterakis gallinarum) are common internal parasites in chickens, particularly in birds with access to outdoor soil. While they may cause few obvious symptoms in chickens, they are important because they can carry and spread the organism associated with blackhead disease.

Important: Safe-Guard® AquaSol should be used according to its product labeling. Tapeworms are not listed among the chicken worm indications on the Safe-Guard® AquaSol label.

🥚 No Egg Withdrawal Period Required

One of the first questions many backyard chicken keepers have about a deworming product is whether they can continue to use the eggs from their hens.

Safe-Guard® AquaSol has no withdrawal period required for chickens when used according to the product labeling.

This means that when the product is used according to the approved directions, eggs from treated hens do not need to be discarded because of a withdrawal period.

Always follow the product's directions for use.

💉 Designed With Backyard Flocks in Mind

One of the challenges for backyard chicken keepers is that many poultry medications are supplied in quantities that may be much larger than a small flock requires.

I'm exploring the possibility of offering a smaller amount that may be more practical for backyard chicken keepers.

I am also researching packaging and measuring options that would make the product as easy as possible for customers to measure and use according to the product directions.

My goal would be to provide:

✓ A convenient small-flock size
✓ Easy-to-use measuring options
✓ Clear instructions
✓ Practical packaging for backyard chicken keepers

📅 Important Information About Product Shelf Life

One important factor I'm considering before offering Safe-Guard® AquaSol is its storage and shelf-life requirements.

The manufacturer's product information states that the original container should be used within 6 months after opening.

Because I am exploring the possibility of offering the product in smaller portions, this is an important part of my decision-making process. Any product offered would need to have a clearly identified use-by date based on the applicable product requirements.

This means the smaller size may not be intended as a product to purchase and store indefinitely in a poultry emergency kit.

Understanding customer interest ahead of time will help me determine whether there is enough demand to responsibly offer convenient small-flock portions.

🐔 Is Safe-Guard® AquaSol Right for Every Flock?

Not necessarily.

Every flock and parasite situation is different. Proper parasite management involves appropriate diagnosis, treatment and monitoring.

Safe-Guard® AquaSol should be used according to the product directions. Accurate dosing is important, and parasite resistance can develop with deworming products.

If I decide to offer this product, I will provide customers with clear information to help them understand the product and its intended use.

💲 Product Details Being Considered

I'm considering offering Safe-Guard® AquaSol in a convenient 9 mL small-flock size for backyard chicken keepers.

Anticipated Price: $30 per 9 mL vial

Each vial would be intended to provide a convenient amount for backyard chicken keepers who do not need to purchase a large container.

Because the product has a limited use period after the original container is opened, each vial would have a clearly identified use-by date.

Please note: Safe-Guard® AquaSol is currently being considered and is not yet available for purchase. The purpose of this survey is to help me determine whether there is enough interest to make offering this product practical.

Your feedback will help me determine whether offering this product is practical.

📣 I Would Love Your Feedback!

Before making a final decision, I'm asking backyard chicken keepers:

Would you be interested in purchasing Safe-Guard® AquaSol in a convenient small-flock size?

Your feedback will help me determine whether there is enough interest to move forward with this potential new product.

🪱 Responsible Deworming & Parasite Resistance

Internal parasites can develop resistance to deworming medications when products are overused or used incorrectly.

For this reason, it is important not to deworm chickens unnecessarily or simply rotate deworming products on a routine schedule without considering the parasite involved.

Different deworming products may work against different types of internal parasites. The most appropriate product depends on the parasite being treated and the individual flock.

Whenever possible, treatment decisions should be based on appropriate parasite identification and the product should be used according to its directions.

Piperazine deworming products are currently available through Chick' N Wellness Shop, but each product has different parasite coverage and directions for use.
