🪱 How Does AquaSol Compare to Piperazine?
Safe-Guard® AquaSol and piperazine are different deworming products, and each has its own advantages for backyard chicken keepers.
Piperazine is the simpler option for treating large roundworms. It is a convenient one-day treatment, followed by a second treatment 7–10 days later according to the product directions. For chicken keepers looking for an easy-to-use roundworm treatment, piperazine may be the more straightforward option.
Safe-Guard® AquaSol requires treatment for 5 consecutive days and the amount used is based on the total body weight of the flock.
The main additional labelled coverage offered by Safe-Guard® AquaSol is cecal worms (Heterakis gallinarum), in addition to large roundworms (Ascaridia galli).
Which Product Is Right for Your Flock?
The best option depends on the parasites you are trying to manage and your flock's individual situation.
If you are looking for a simple and convenient treatment for large roundworms, piperazine may be the preferred option.
If access to treatment for both large roundworms and cecal worms is important to you, Safe-Guard® AquaSol may offer an additional option.
