Barred Whiting True Blue Specialty Line – Day-Old Chicks - Breeder Reservations Available

This specialty line carries the barring gene and is being developed for future sex-linked breeding programs.

Suitable for both backyard flocks and breeder projects.

Our Barred Whiting True Blue (WTB) day-old barred chicks are offered as a separate category from our standard Whiting True Blue chicks due to the genetics involved in barring.

Chicks that carry the barring gene can be visually identified at hatch by a distinct white dot on the top of the head. These chicks may be either male or female, as sex cannot be determined at hatch.

Important Information

  • A visible head spot indicates the chick carries the barring gene

  • Both male and female chicks may show this marking

  • Chicks are not sexed at hatch

  • Expression of barring may vary as birds mature

For breeders seeking guaranteed barred females, we recommend our breeder-only reservation program for Barred WTB pullets, where sex and barring are confirmed prior to placement.

Availability

Day-old barred chicks are offered based on hatch schedules and availability. Quantities are limited and may vary by hatch.

  • ⚠️ Important – How to Order Day-Old Chicks

WTB Barred Specialty Line chicks are available by reservation through our Reservation Sign-Up Form.
Any remaining chicks after reservations are filled will be added to our inventory. Customers can use the "Notify When Available" button to be alerted when extra chicks are available.

This is a first-come, first-served opportunity- using "Notify When Available" does not guarantee chicks, but you'll be notified if extras are added.
To reserve your Barred WTB chicks, click the link below and submit the Breeder Reservation Form.

  • There is a 2 chick minimum as chickens are flock animals and need a buddy from the same hatch.
