Rustic Eggers Started Pullets - 8 Weeks Old
Our Rustic Eggers are Roslin Poultry Ranch's own multi-generational coloured egg line, developed through selective breeding for rich, earthy egg colours while maintaining hardy, productive backyard hens.
Unlike first-generation Olive Eggers, our Rustic Eggers are carefully selected over successive generations to expand the range of natural egg colours. Depending on the individual hen, eggs may range from olive and dark olive to khaki, moss green and naturally speckled shades.
Our breeding program combines carefully selected Olive Egger, Copper Marans, and Welsummer genetics, with each generation chosen for its contribution to egg colour, shell quality, hardiness, and productivity.
As a developing multi-generational line, every Rustic Egger is unique. Rather than selecting for one specific egg colour, our goal is to create a flock that produces a stunning basket of complementary earth-toned eggs.
About Egg Colour
To accurately represent our hybrid breeding lines, egg photos are not shown on our chick and started pullet listings.
Unlike pure breeds, each hybrid pullet is genetically unique and may mature to lay a different shade within her line's characteristic colour palette. Showing the egg laid by the chick's mother could unintentionally suggest that every daughter will lay the same colour, which is not always the case.
Instead, we focus on breeding toward the unique colour goals of each line through careful multi-generational selection.
