Chick Nipple Drinker – Clean Water for Healthier Chicks
 
Providing clean, fresh drinking water is one of the simplest ways to support healthy, thriving chicks. Unlike open water dishes that quickly become contaminated with bedding, droppings and feed, chick nipple drinkers keep the water completely enclosed. Water is only released when a chick gently pecks the stainless steel pin, helping keep the water 100% clean until it is consumed.
 
Cleaner drinking water plays an important role in reducing exposure to harmful bacteria and protozoa, including the organisms that cause coccidiosis. While a nipple drinker cannot prevent disease on its own, providing clean water helps reduce one of the common sources of contamination in the brooder. Cleaner water means healthier chicks.

Training Your Chicks
 
Day-old chicks:
After placing the chicks in the brooder, gently touch each chick's beak to the stainless steel pin. Wait until you see the chick swallow a small droplet of water before moving on to the next chick. This teaches them where their water source is from the very beginning.
 
Older chicks:
If introducing nipple drinkers for the first time, remove any open water source. Tap the stainless steel pin with your finger until a droplet of water forms. Chicks are naturally curious and will come over to investigate. Once they peck the pin and receive water, they quickly learn how the drinker works.
With just a little training, most chicks adapt very quickly and will happily use nipple drinkers for clean, fresh water every day.
