The Whiting True Blue (WTB) was developed by Dr. Tom Whiting, who originally bred these chickens for their feathers, ideal for fly fishing.
 
While they may take a little longer to warm up to humans compared to some other breeds, their freedom-loving and self-sufficient nature makes them excellent for yards where chickens are allowed to roam and care for themselves with minimal supervision.
