Our Rustic Eggers are Roslin Poultry Ranch's own multi-generational coloured egg line, developed through selective breeding for a beautiful basket of rich, earthy egg colours while maintaining hardy, productive backyard hens.
 
Unlike first-generation Olive Eggers, our Rustic Eggers are selectively bred over successive generations to expand the natural spectrum of egg colours. Depending on the individual hen, eggs may range from warm brown and terracotta tones to olive, dark olive, moss green, khaki, potato-skin shades, and naturally speckled eggs.
 
By combining carefully selected Olive Egger, Copper Marans, and Welsummer genetics, each generation is chosen for its contribution to egg colour diversity, shell quality, hardiness, and productivity.
 
As a developing multi-generational line, every Rustic Egger is unique. Rather than selecting for one specific egg colour, our goal is to create a flock that produces a stunning basket of complementary earth-toned eggs.
 
Appearance & Variety:
Rustic Eggers come in a wide range of feather colors, so no two birds are exactly alike.
Some may also display subtle variations in muffs, beards, or crests, adding character to your flock.
 
About Egg Colour
To accurately represent our hybrid breeding lines, egg photos are not shown on our chick and started pullet listings.
 
Unlike pure breeds, each hybrid pullet is genetically unique and may mature to lay a different shade within her line's characteristic colour palette. Showing the egg laid by the chick's mother could unintentionally suggest that every daughter will lay the same colour, which is not always the case.
 
Instead, we focus on breeding toward the unique colour goals of each line through careful multi-generational selection.
 
Every hybrid chick is an individual, making each mature flock a unique collection of beautiful coloured egg layers.
