Introducing the Copper Marans Chicks, a heritage breed known for their black, blue and splash plumage and friendly disposition. Here on the Ranch, we currently offer Splash and Blue Copper Marans colour variety.
The Copper Marans originated in France. The breed was developed in the town of Marans.
Our Copper Marans are known for their beautiful dark, rich brown eggs and are a favorite among egg enthusiasts. On average, the Copper Marans hen will give you around 3 eggs per week, which works out to about 150-200 eggs per year. This may not be as high as some other breeds, but their quality make up for it and their eggs are absolutely gorgeous.
Marans egg colour will lighten. When a Marans pullet starts laying she will lay the darkest brown eggs that is genetically possible for her. As the laying season progresses her eggs will get lighter. After a molt or seasonal break, her eggs start out dark again.
These chicks are hatched from dark egg genetics as shown in picture.
